This two-hour presentation will discuss evaluation, management and treatment of common sports injuries in the elementary and middle school pediatric population. Evaluation will involve a thorough and detailed history, exam and differential diagnosis of common conditions. Management will focus on chiropractic adjustments, soft tissue treatment and taping/bracing. Additional discussion will involve red flags, referral and co-management.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand how to evaluate common sports injuries in the elementary/middle school age pediatric population.
- Understand how to create a management plan for pediatric sports injuries including treatment recommendations, imaging and co-management.
- Be able to perform common extremity adjustments, soft tissue treatment and taping of common pediatric sports injuries.

Dr Sara Cuperus received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Exercise Science from the University of Minnesota and her Chiropractic Doctorate from Northwestern Health Sciences University. She is also a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC), Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP), Certified by the Academy of Chiropractic Family Practice (CACCP), NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES), and International Certificate in Sports Chiropractic. Dr. Cuperus has been in private practice in central Minnesota since 2003, where she provides chiropractic care to children, pregnant moms and athletes.
With a background in athletic training, over 25 years of sports injury experience, training in the Graston Technique, and Certified in Structure and Function Dry Needling, Dr. Sara is also one of the area's leading providers for athletic performance and injuries. Dr. Sara has completed multiple internships at the United States Olympic Training Center, treating athletes training in a variety of sports. Author of The Manual for the ChiropracticEntrepreneur, Dr. Lisa Goodman founded her multidisciplinary clinic, 2006in Denver, Colorado. Dr. Goodman is a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician(CCSP) and Certified Prenatal and Pediatric Chiropractor (CACCP). In additionto being an avid golfer, she is TPI golf certified and works as part of theperformance and recovery team of the USGA. She is a CrossFit L1 and CrossFitKids Certified Trainer.
Passionate about growing our profession, Dr.Goodman enjoys teaching and mentoring the next generation of chiropractors. Sheis an international speaker on business development and pediatric sportschiropractic. Dr. Goodman is an instructor for the ACA Pediatrics CouncilDiplomate Program.
Prior to graduating as Valedictorian fromPalmer College of Chiropractic West, where she was the Sports CouncilPresident, Dr. Goodman earned her undergraduate degree in communications fromthe University of Miami and had an exciting four-year career in advertising. Areas ofspecial interest include pediatric chiropractic, youth athletes, golfbiomechanics, prenatal care, strength training and business development.
