This presentation will review the varied needs chiropractic can address within occupational health and familiarize the audience with what occupational health means to industries. 

Upon completion of this presentation, learners should be able to:  

  • Explain what occupational health is.  
  • Review trends and needs with occupational health.  
  • Describe appreciative inquiry, a brief overview, and strategy.  
  • Explain the difference between addressing human interaction with the working environment and in making the working environment friendly to the human.

Scott D. Bautch

Scott Bautch DC, DACBOH, CCST, CCSP, is the former CEO of Allied Health Chiropractic Centers, one of the largest doctor-owned chiropractic groups in the country; he has also served on the board of directors since the company was founded in 1994. Currently, Dr. Bautch maintains an active practice in Wausau, Wis.  

In 1983, Dr. Bautch completed his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Logan University College of Chiropractic. He also completed a diplomate in occupational health, and several certificates and programs related to occupational health and sports injuries.  

Currently, he sits on the American Chiropractic Association Business Development and Revenue Committee. He is a past chairman of NCHPP Chiropractic Quality Assurance Committee, past chairman of Security Health Plan Chiropractic Quality Assurance Committee, and past chairman of the Wisconsin Chiropractic Association on Occupational Health Board. He is also the past president of the American Chiropractic Association Council on Occupational Health and the International Academy of Chiropractic Occupational Health Board; and has served on the Board of Directors of the Wisconsin Chiropractic Association, the American Chiropractic Workers Compensation Committee, and as an advisor on the 365 ANSI Committee on Carpal Tunnel. He previously participated on the WPS Chiropractic Committee and WPS Medical Committee.  

Dr. Bautch also finds time to present to and consult with several industries. To date, more than 2,000 industries have benefited from his knowledge and passion for chiropractic. He also co-authored the manual “Industrial Carpal Tunnel Manual for Physicians” and the book Carpal Tunnel Syndrome: A Practical Guide for Those Who Work with Their Hands.
