
Keys to Recovery in Persistent Post-concussion Syndrome

Join Dr. Michael Powell, DC, who will provide an overview of the evidence-based procedures he uses with patients who suffer persistent post-concussion syndrome (PPCS). These patients continue to suffer headache, dizziness, or other symptoms for months or years after their initial injury. Dr. Powell will provide a template for assessment that will enable the chiropractor to provide individualized care for these challenging patients. He will share treatment strategies that lead to faster, more successful outcomes for those with PPCS.

1. Identify the key tests that must be performed with every PPCS patient
2. Assemble a plan of care that takes into account the unique challenges with PPCS
3. Utilize objective measures that will guide the treatment plan

Dr. Mike Powell has been teaching other doctors how to have a greater impact on their patients by applying functional neurology for over 20 years. He is on the faculty of the Carrick Institute, past president of the Iowa Board of Chiropractic, current district director for the Iowa Chiropractic Society. Dr. Powell lectures to educators, brain injury specialists, rehab providers and support groups. He is also trained in Bredesen protocols for prevention and treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease. Dr. Powell has developed a series of online courses on functional neurology for healthcare providers. He is proud to be a second-generation chiropractor, practicing in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
