The Pain Neuromatrix was first introduced by Ronald Melzack in the late 1960’s. Since then, there has been a plethora of research on the brain’s involvement in chronic pain. This presentation explores the pain neuromatrix from a chiropractic point and why chiropractors should be aware of its existence.

Upon completion of this presentation, learners should be able to:

  • Explain what the pain neuromatrix is.
  • Discuss how the pain neuromatrix influences chronic pain.
  • Describe how chiropractic treatment can positively influence the pain neuromatrix.
